I can't believe Driver-san took on the last 1200 miles of this trip in THE SAME DAY. A day ago, we're at a Motel 6 in western Arkansas. Now we're home.

It's been a crazy wild fun trip. I've witnessed the endless fields and prairies of Kansas, been to the top of a mountain, zipped up and down the Rockies, went through Zion National Park, survived the heat of the desert in Nevada without overheating despite while cruising at 80+ with the air conditioning cranked, cruised the strip in Vegas, went across Hoover Dam, tooled around on old Route 66 for a few miles, had to put up with 90 octane gas for a couple days (dear sister how do you stand 87?), and finished it all off with a marathon run home while jamming to I've Sound Trance.

Total mileage: 5341.

I'm pooped.

No pictures from yesterday. Just driving. And more driving. And more driving. And we're only a little over 1/5 the way in, but not as far distance-wise as Driver-san would have liked. "We're almost a whole day behind!" he says. But who was it that got off to a late start on both Sunday, Monday, and today? Who was it that stopped off at Best Buy? Who was it that took a detour for the model train shop? Who was it that picked the long way and otherwise added about 100 miles to the trip? Who is it that's waiting for Microcenter to open? orz orz orz

So far I'm averaging about 31MPG. That's about par for me in the first place, and considering Driver-san has the cruise control set to about 80 most of the time, it's not bad at all.

wtf??

Yay I have shiny new brakes! Slotted rotors all around FTW! They held up well on the way out to Tekkoshocon and back. Inner Pittsburgh is astonishingly lumpy and hilly. Good way to make sure my new brakes worked.

But now Driver-san is mad at me because my air-conditioning stopped working. It's not fair because he let my sister go almost a year without it, and that hasn't hurt her. In fact, why should I care? It's not like I'm the one that needs or uses it anyway. It's just some comfort and convenience thing, and I don't run any worse without it.

What's really not fair to me is if that's not fixed soon (and that's all up to Driver-san), I won't be allowed to go on any kind of big trips, or to any conventions further away than Otakon, or even any day trips to Skyline Drive. Just back and forth to work. Bleh. What am I supposed to do, fix myself? Driver-san, stop bawwing and roll down the windows.

Too long since my last post.....

Driver-san is talking about going to the beach next weekend! But I'm kinda hoping he takes Ai-chan instead or maybe it'll rain. Last year I went to the beach and suddenly I needed new rear brakes. Coincidence? I don't think so! But I'm probably gonna get dragged along again. I'd much prefer to go to AWA later this month but Driver-san says that's not going to happen this year and there's really no reason to go. He even admits that it's only about the road trip aspect anymore, and that can be done any time. Except winter; winter sucks.

Last month had a fun weekend though. More Skyline Drive fun, and a bit of Blue Ridge Parkway, then blitzing up the interstate while playing some I've Trance music. Pictures eventually?

Driver-san is still on 2nd shift. It's not so bad though. His roommate and her Element are here during the evenings to keep me company when I'm not on driving duty, and there's just enough room in the parking pad for all three of us when everyone's home.

Although Driver-san told me to make this an FO entry for some reason. Which sucks, because then maybe 3 people will bother to read this far. So, I'm going to leave it open (but behind a cut).

Go here: http://www.cardboardshrine.com/yamikochanmix1/

Then, right-click and "save as" and add .mp3 as an extension. I know he's done off-shifts before, but this is supposed to be permanent? Meh. This is going to be like when he was doing the hotspot thing, I just know it.

New anime! What to watch. There's something called "Zombie Loan" coming out, from the creators of "Rozen Maiden" and the first episode looks promising.

Tomorrow/later today/sometime this week I shall post my first Image CD! 18 songs reflective of me! There's more than 18, but Driver-san says they wouldn't all fit on a cd.
I'm back home now. While I sat in a parking lot for almost a week, Driver-san and friends were out in California watching concerts (including Momoi!!!!) and having fun at Anime Expo. And I'm sitting in a damn parking lot, less than a mile from Driver-san's workplace, with NO idea when he's getting back with his token 58 tons of convention loot. Fun. One of the cars next to me said something about sitting there for at least a month. AAAHHH NO

Driver-san is still saying something about my O2 sensors needing replaced anyway? Huh, go figure. I hope he rethinks that plan, because the last thing I need is him poking around "there".

Aaaand I'm due for an oil change.

Yay, I passed inspection. Driver-san was worried, because of an error code that came up last week. It's not like anything was really wrong, I was just trying to get his attention because he was sitting in a parking lot doing nothing but looking at a cd he just bought! That was the only way I could think of. But he got all angry, so I guess I won't do that to him anymore.

Now to take Driver-san and his friends to the airport to go to the biggest anime convention in the US while I sit in a parking lot for almost a week. But he needs to clean some crap out first.

Since Driver-san is a cheapskate, I have upgraded my account to Plus! This is mostly because I wanted more LJ icons. Like my newest one? Driver-san is also using it on the CRSX forums, the thief!

Forgot to say how Tekkoshocon went. It was fun, I guess. Not as fun as before just because of the trip to and from, but it could have been a lot worse.

The trip home was a bit weird. Sometimes Driver-san will make a side trip to what he calls his old neighborhood, and when he does he invariably stops to visit his father's grave. We went through some of the side streets to where he used to live, and "Last Regrets" starts playing. He asked me to change the song, so I picked some DJ Sharpnel. I know he normally likes "Last Regrets", so I asked him what was up.

"You remember watching 'Kanon', right?"

"Duh, of course."

"And Ayu's story?"

"Yeah, and?"

"It's a bit like that for me. When I was a young boy, one of my neighbors was a girl about a year older than me but a year behind in school. Not very bright at all, and sometimes annoying. Kinda like you."

"@*$&%^#$&#!!!!!"

"Heh. Well, one day she moved away, and sometime later we got word that she fell down a flight of stairs and died."

"..."

The remainder of the trip home was quiet, aside from telling Driver-san that I was hungry. And muttering unpleasant things about him under my breath.

You know how sometimes, someone will tell you something and it leaves you feeling deflated and you don't know how to react? Even though whoever is telling you all this isn't showing much emotion? It was a lot like that. Lesson that day: Sometimes a song can be TOO appropriate for a given situation.

This was over a month ago, but it came to mind earlier today.

I think I'm gonna go listen to some Yui Horie.

'allo. Long time no update, ne?

This weekend my sister and I watched all of Kanon:2006 with Driver-san. About two-thirds the way through, he turns it off and goes to bed! So we turned it back on and watched the rest of it without him. He watched the rest of it the next day anyway. Ayu's story always did make me weepy. I mentioned this to Driver-san, and the sicko starts singing The Smiths' "Girlfriend in a Coma". So I pinned him to the wall until he stopped. It didn't take long.

aichan95 left on Tuesday for inspection. Driver-san says she won't be back until tomorrow at the earliest, and possibly next week. This isn't good. But he also says it's because they ordered the wrong part, one that went to a different variant. That's not so bad, I guess. Driver-san also told me about his old Nissan, which would sit at the mechanic's for a solid week (more than once) and they still wouldn't be able to figure out what was wrong with it.

Me? I've kept busy, been doing most of the driving lately. Driver-san tries to keep a steady mileage gap between my sister and I, and I've been about 2 months worth behind. It also means I've done most of the driving during the snow, which I wasn't fond of. But we stayed home when it was really bad outside, so I'm thankful for that.

Erf, I need a bath. But it's so cold and windy out here, I'd ice up instantly. At least the howling winds are drowning out Driver-san's snoring. They say spring is supposed to come early this year? It needs to come NOW.

Lately I've been doing driving duty, which isn't bad. I feel more useful this way, despite a bum cd player. Driver-san is still being cheap about putting in a new deck, but at least he didn't waste a lot of time on my busted taillight. No wait, he did waste a lot of time. He took maybe a day to put the new one in, and when all I needed was a single bulb, something that's available practically everywhere (and one that he finds out later on that he ALREADY HAD), he puts that off for a week.

I think Ai-chan's tired of winter too. Last week she and Driver-san got home and she was like "I'm done. Wake me up in another month." Well, she's going to be woken up a lot sooner than that. Then again she's also seen a lot more use in the past couple months than I have. Her tires look like they're wearing out funny though, and Driver-san has noticed this too so he declared her grounded in the meantime.

I swear the local stray cats are trying to talk to me in Greek. Yep, road salt at work. Waaaaay past time for a bath.

DAMMIT

What a way to start the year. Driver-san backs into a guardpost at a gas station, and it just about destroyed my taillight. Fortunately that's all it took out, and Driver-san picked up a new one the same day and now has it mostly installed. Had to take off my rear bumper to do it, so I made my displeasure known with some very stubborn bolts, so he doesn't really finish it and has left me overnight with my bumper just hanging on. Driver-san is all "eh, whatever" about the whole thing, which pisses me off even more. Oh, I'm not done with you....

And he STILL hasn't done anything with my radio, aside from shove a cheap cassette adapter in to make use of his mp3 player, which might have two songs with Yui Horie in it.

I wanna go back to 2006.

Driver-san says I may need to get a new cd player. My stock one is having trouble loading discs nowadays. Driver-san is saying something about it not gripping the cd properly, and the spindle over-spins and has trouble initially reading the disc. He's trying to fix it, almost ripping apart my dashboard in the process every time he pulls out the radio. Driver-san will probably get something that plays mp3s or something. Then again, we found out that most of what's out there can play mp3s. Yay. I'd like one that matches my interior, thank you. We'll both miss the in-dash 6-cd changer, though. Trunk-mounted changers are not the same. In the meantime I guess I'm getting a hand-me-down from my sister in the form of an FM modulator thing that can take external devices. Or he'll implement one of those tape-adapter things. I mean, it's not like we've used the tape deck for anything.

For the past week, we've been listening to a lot of MOSAIC.WAV songs. I can't get "We Love Akiba-Pop" out of my mind! Mostly because Driver-san has it on repeat a lot. It's a great song and all, but DANG. But he did finally give in and play something from Higurashi.

Now he's mostly done putting a couple new parts on aichan95. Which means he'll go back to driving her around until he does something with my cd player, whenever that will be.
